Deacons

The office of deacon as set forth in Scripture is one of sympathy, witness, and service after the example of Jesus Christ.

At Sixth Church, the keyword for the Deacons is "service." We are members of the congregation who have accepted a call to ministry that centers on helping others, through prayer, visitation, and other service. Deacons ensure that our older members are visited regularly at their homes. Our ministries can range from helping a family move to sending cards to church members on special occasions. The Deacons sponsor an active and growing "Women With Children" ministry which meets weekly at the church.

Deacons are recommended by the Nominating Committee, and confirmed by a vote of the congregation; we serve a three year term.
