Mary Louise McCullough, Pastor
Mary Louise McCullough became the pastor of Sixth in May 2005. She and her husband, Mike Wilson, who is also a pastor, live in nearby Regent Square. She is a second career pastor, having spent two decades in journalism and public relations, including 10 years at the Richmond Times-Dispatch (Va.) where she was a feature writer and award winning editor of its youth magazine.
Before attending San Francisco Theological Seminary, Mary Louise also spent several years as a spiritual director and retreat leader with Richmond Hill, an ecumenical urban retreat center devoted to racial reconciliation in the city of Richmond. During seminary, she worked for two years at Seventh Avenue Presbyterian Church in San Francisco, a More Light Church which was also a part of the PC (USA) Sanctuary Movement during the 1980s. She and Mike spent their first calls at small churches northeast of Pittsburgh in Freeport and Leechburg. Mary Louise is currently working on her Doctor of Ministry degree at Austin Theological Seminary in Texas. She has a son, Evan, who is 23 and lives in Austin. Mike and Mary Louise spend time each year climbing mountains in the Adirondacks.
Gail Luley, Music Director
Gail Luley holds a BA in Education, from Concordia Teacher's College (now Concordia University) in River Forest, Illinois and in Music from Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Indiana. In addition to her work at Sixth, she is also Managing Director of the Pittsburgh Camerata. She has taught in elementary schools, conducted children's choirs and directed music programs. In addition Ms. Luley has helped create and run two small businesses: Luley and Associates, a company that builds and maintains pipe organs, and Classical Tracks, a retail store that specialized in classical compact discs.
A lover of choral music, she has sung with the Pittsburgh Camerata for the past eighteen years and served on its Board of Directors. For a number of years Ms. Luley played harpsichord and sang with the Urban Sky Consort, a group of seven woman who specialize in the performance of early music.
Jenn Frayer-Griggs, Director of Youth Ministry
Jenn Frayer-Griggs grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana. After attending a Catholic grade school and a Jesuit high school, she enrolled at Hope College, a small, Christian liberal arts college in Holland, Michigan, where she majored in English Literature and participated in many outreach and youth group organizations. After marrying her husband, Dan, they moved to Lake Charles, Louisiana, where Jenn earned an MFA in Poetry and an MA in English Literature at McNeese State University. Both Jenn and Dan were teachers, Jenn at McNeese teaching English Composition, and Dan at a small public high school teaching English. Leaving the heat and humidity of Louisiana, Jenn and Dan moved up to Pittsburgh in July of 2006. Dan is currently studying at the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary for an MA in Biblical Studies, and Jenn has begun an MA in Religious Studies at the University of Pittsburgh.
Dan and Jenn found Sixth to be a welcoming, open place with a social justice perspective, and so decided to make this their church home. Jenn is thrilled to be a part of the youth group.
