Children and Youth

Christian Education

Sunday school begins at 10 am and is held September through May, followed by worship at 11 am. Parents are asked to please review our Health and Safety Guidelines. If you are new to us, please complete our Children and Youth Registration. If you have completed this in previous years, you don’t have to do it again. But please let us know if your contact information has changed.

For questions or information related to Christian Education, please contact Jenny Newman at Jennyrunew@gmail.com . Please see below for additional forms and safety guidelines.

Nursery Care and Extended Session

We believe that children are a vital part of our worshipping community and welcome them in worship.  We understand that sometimes it can be challenging for children to sit through an entire service, so infants and toddlers are welcome in the nursery at any time.  Preschool through 3rd-grade children are welcome to attend the Extended Session during worship following the Passing of the Peace.  Extended session is held in the large Sunday school room on the second floor.  We invite and encourage all students to remain in worship with their families on the first Sunday of each month when we celebrate Communion.

Our church nursery is located on the second floor, and nursery care is available each week at 10 a.m. until the conclusion of the worship service.

Sunday School

In our Sunday school classes, we are currently using lectionary-based curriculum from Feasting on the Word along with children’s story Bibles and other resources. While our current classes bring together children and youth across a range of ages, we value age-appropriate learning and will create smaller age-based groups whenever participation allows.

Acolytes and Water Pourer

Pouring the baptismal water and lighting the Christ Candle are a vital parts of our worship service. There is a sign-up sheet for Sundays in the narthex of the church for children and youth are interested in being a part of the service in this way. Contact Jenny Newman for more information and to be trained!

Youth Fellowship

September through May, weekly youth fellowship time is held in collaboration with East Liberty Presbyterian Church. Youth in 7th through 12th grade meet most Thursdays at ELPC from 4:30 to 7 pm. Dinner is provided each week at 5 pm. ELCP is located at 116 S. Highland Ave. Students will enter the church at the Highland Avenue entrance and meet in the second-floor parlor. We will also meet one week of the month here at Sixth Church. September schedule

Please see the church calendar for dates and times of additional youth service projects and events!
