Crop Walk 2015 – Oct 11!

If autumn is approaching, it is surely time for the CROP Walk!

cropOn Sunday, October 11, Sixth Church will join with other communities in the East End to participate in the CROP Hunger Walk, which is sponsored by Church World Service.

Church World Service has a steady, on-going presence around the world, relating every day to those in need, developing projects to help people become self-sufficient.

This year the walk called “Pittsburgh East” will celebrate its 38th year of walking to END HUNGER ONE STEP AT A TIME. During the past 37 years, the Pittsburgh East walk has raised more than $300,000 to fund anti-hunger and development projects around our city and around our world. 25% of what we raise is returned as grants to East End Cooperative Ministries and Wilkinsburg Community Ministry. 75% goes to the hunger and refugee services of Church World Service.

None of us could do this alone; it is truly an effort which embraces the small contributions of many people. Each year about 20 people from Sixth Church participate. Will you join us this year?  Please contact Sue Kohler or Pam Twiss to sign up to walk, or you can CLICK HERE to sponsor our team with a donation on line!

The walk will include options for those people unable to walk the full six miles. In other words, you can choose your own personal challenge!
