Sunday Worship Schedule for June and July

Check out what’s on tap for the first two months of summer worship at Sixth!

June 7

Mark 3:31-35 “What About Your Hyphen?”
Jesus did not exactly have a great relationship with his biological family, but the Gospel tradition presents him as being reconciled to his mother by the time of his death. We are always dealing with our parents, even if they are long gone or live far away. How are you doing with your sources?

June 14

I Samuel 15:34-16:13 “God’s Choice”
On Pride March Sunday, we will consider what it means to be God’s choice. We will recall the story of David, a person who was “after God’s heart,” and how it took a long time before David’s “choseness” bore fruit in his life.

June 21

Mark 4:35-41 “Why Are You So Afraid?”
In this famous story of Jesus’ stilling the storm, we will consider the 3 big questions that frame the text.

June 28

Rev. Jenn Frayer-Griggs will be preaching.

July 5

Mark 6:1-13 “Walking into Freedom”
After Jesus first big failure, he gives his disciples instructions for how they can walk with out burden and make a difference in the world. How can you make a difference against the evil spirits that dominate our world?

July 12

Ephesians 1:3-14 “Called Into Holy Community”
In a culture where “rugged individualism” does not satisfy our hunger for community, we will explore how the sacred community called the church can make us be at home.

July 19

Ephesians 2:11-22 “Coming Home”
What does it mean to be home? We will explore how in Christ, home is no longer where you are from, but where you are going.
